Están ya en el último tramo de su viaje. Después de 18 años en el camino solo les falta regresar a casa y así lograr cumplir el maravilloso sueño. Los espera una de las más grandes aventuras de todo el trayecto.
Herman y Candelaria Zapp emprendieron hace 18 años!!! la fantástica aventura de hacer una travesía en automóvil. En un viejo automóvil, en verdad (un Graham Paige modelo 1928). Su meta fue unir Argentina y Alaska. No solo lo consiguieron, sino que se encantaron con esa forma de vivir y siguieron…recorrieron los cinco continentes y ahora piensan atravesar el Atlántico, a vela y con el coche a bordo.
¡¡Navegar el Atlántico a vela para regresar a casa!!
No podemos creer que solo había empezado siendo un viaje desde Argentina hasta Alaska en el año 2000. Es que parecía imposible en un auto de 1928 y con tan pocos recursos que pudiéramos lograr tanto… como llegar al Himalaya a tocar el Everest, pasar navidad en Belén, construir una barca para bajar con el coche el Amazonas, llegar a vivir la migración de animales en Serengueti, salvar tortugas en una isla del Pacífico, visitar a los gorilas… nadar en el Nilo…… y tantas cosas que soñábamos desde niños, que quedarían en la imaginación…. si no, nos hubiéramos animado.
Además, ¡Dos sueños en uno! También cumplimos el de ser familia, y nuestros cuatro hijos crecieron y conocieron el más maravilloso mundo.
Sabemos que tenemos un Gran DESAFIO por delante, llevar el auto y la familia, todos juntos al ritmo del viento, pero sabemos que será ¡Un final increíble para este Sueño!
Y como aprendimos que para lograr lo que se quiere en la vida, hay que intentarlo, fuimos a Holanda a buscar uno de los pocos barcos de carga a vela en el mundo. La sorpresa fue…encontrarnos con una maravillosa ONG feliz de llevar el auto gratis desde Europa hasta las Guyanas en Sudamérica. Pero para nosotros 6, más gastos portuarios y 30 días de navegación debemos afrontar el gasto.

We have big news to share! We are already on the last leg of our trip, after 18 years on the road we just need to return HOME and to accomplish this wonderful Dream!
There are many experiences that we’d love to tell you but this one is one of the GREATEST ADVENTURES that await us!!
TO RETURN HOME NAVIGATING THE ATLANTIC IN A SAILING SHIP!
We cannot believe that this started in the year 2000 being only from Argentina to Alaska. It seemed impossible that in a 1928 car and with so few resources we would achieve so much … as reaching the Himalayas and touch the Everest…. Spend Christmas in Belen, build a boat to go down the Amazon River with the car, see Serengeti’s great migration, save turtles in a pacific island, visit gorillas … swim in the Nile … and so many other things that we dreamed as kids that would have stayed in our imagination … If we had not dared to make them happen.
Also two dreams in one! We also fulfilled the one of having a family and our four children grew up and experienced the most wonderful world.
We know that we have a Great CHALLENGE ahead, to take the car and the family, all together at the rhythm of the wind, but we know that this is an incredible way to end to this Dream!
And as we learned that to achieve what you want in life, you have to try; we went to Holland to find one of the few cargo sailboats in the World. The surprise was … finding this wonderful NGO who is happy to take the car for free from Europe to the Guyanas in South America. But we must pay the 30-day expenses for the 6 of us, plus harbor fees, and a detour of the boat to go to Guyanas.
